I understand you may be feeling equal parts excited and stressed. Your body is rapidly changing and this is unknown territory. Whether its you’re first kid or tenth, you’re an experienced yogi or you can’t touch your toes, prenatal yoga has many amazing benefits:

Reduces stress

Yoga is a mind-body practice that combines physical postures, conscious breathing and meditation to help reduce stress hormones in the body. In turn, reducing stress in the body improves our blood pressure, lowers our heart rates and decreases overall tension.

Prepares you for labor

In Mindfulness meditation, we talk a lot about sitting with our thoughts but not attaching to them. Even when things are difficult we practice acknowledging the discomfort but not becoming absorbed in internal dialog. I can’t think of a situation where this technique is more appropriate and useful than in childbirth. We can use the tools learned in yoga class to support us in the labor and birth of our babies.

Build a community

Sometimes it just helps to be around people who “get it”. In group classes you’ll have an opportunity to meet and connect with others that are on this pregnancy journey with you.

Reduce aches and pains

With an ever-changing body, surges in hormones and rapid growth; some aches and pains are to expected. Often times our daily lives prevent us from frequent movement breaks or position changes, which can help some of these issues. In prenatal yoga, you’ll have an opportunity to move, stretch and strengthen your body in a safe and healthy way to lubricate the joints and keep the blood flowing to those sensitive areas.

Private prenatal classes are $90 per 1 hour class. For information on group classes and other questions, contact me.
